Biography
Son of Prince Friedrich, a cousin of King Carl I, and Princess Katharina, sister of said King. Successor to the throne 1870. Succeeded King Carl I as King 1891. Abdicated 1918 and took the title Duke.
Received the order as thanks for benevolent patronage for the Swedish music festival in Stuttgart.
