Biography
Son of Vicomte Alexandre de Beauharnais and Joséphine de Tascher de la Pagerie (remarried with Emperor Napoléon I). French Prince 1804 and adopterad by Emperor Napoléon 1806. Vice King of Italy 1805-1814. Bavarian Duke of Leuchtenburg and Prince of Eichstädt 1817. Father of princess Josefina, King Oscar I:s consort. Received the Order of the Sword in conjunction with the marriage.
