Second son of Grand Duke Leopold of Baden.
Regent for his brother Grand Duke Ludwig II 1852. Succeeded him as Grand Duke 1856.

Received the collar in conjunction with the christening of Prince Gustaf Adolf, later King Gustaf VI Adolf.
