Second son of Duke Carl Eduard of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and younger brother to Princess Sibylla of Sweden, Duchess of Västerbotten, consort of Prince Gustaf Adolf of Sweden.
Served as senior pilot in Luftwaffe, killed in action.
