Biography
Son of King João VI of Portugal and Brazil. Emperor of Brazil 1822-1831. King of Portugal as Pedro IV 1826-1826. Assumed the title Duke of Bragança and Regent of Portugal 1832. Married for the second time 1829 with Princess Amalia of Leuchtenburg, a younger sister to Queen Josefina, King Oscar I’s consort.
